Throwback Thursday: Bob Baun

Fifty years ago on April 23, 1964 the Leafs forced a game 7 in the Stanley Cup Finals with the Red Wings in dramatic fashion. Proving that hockey players are some of the toughest athletes out there, Bob Baun was the saviour with an overtime goal after returning to the ice following an exit in the third due to a blocked Gordie Howe slapshot to the ankle. Later to find out it was broken.

Here’s Bob along with some of his 1964 teammates at Air Canada Centre this past season.
