The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Sunday that defenceman Jake Gardiner has been assigned to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Playing in his rookie season, Gardiner, 21, has 10 assists while averaging 20:32 of ice-time in 37 games with the Maple Leafs in 2011-12. He has not dressed for the past four games.
The Marlies are in AHL action at Ricoh Coliseum today at 3 p.m as they face the Hamilton Bulldogs. The two hockey clubs will also meet outdoors on Saturday, January 21 at Hamilton’s Ivor Wynne Stadium ...
