The Maple Leafs prospects began their playoffs last week. Here is a weekly update on how they and their teams are doing.
Ontario Hockey League:
Sam Carrick and the Brampton Battalion lead Josh Leivo and the Sudbury Wolves 2-0. Carrick has three points in the first two games and is tied for the team lead in points. Leivo has one goal in the first two games.
First round pick Stuart Percy has one point in the first two games as the Mississauga St. Michaels Majors and Barrie Colts are tied at 1-1.
In the OHL’s Western Conference, the London Knights lead Windsor 2-0. Centre Greg McKegg has one assist and is even in the first two contests.
Andrew Crescenzi has a goal and an assist and is a plus one as the Kitchener Rangers have a 2-0 lead on the Owen Sound Attack.
The big surprise in the playoffs so far is the play of Garret Sparks. He has stopped 67 of 72 shots in the first two games as Guelph leads Plymouth 2-0. Jamie Devane is scoreless in the first two games.
Over in the Western Hockey League, Brad Ross and the Portland Winterhawks lead their best of seven series 2-0 against the Kelowna Rockets. Ross has one goal in the first two games and is a plus two.
The news isn’t as good for Josh Nicholls and the Saskatoon Blades who are down 2-0 to the Medicine Hat Tigers. Nicholls has three points (two goals, one assist) in the first couple of games.
