After The Fall: Now What?

nonis500apr7

I’m a glass overflowing kind of guy.

I think we’re going to get this climate change thing sorted out. Don’t ask me why, it’s just a feeling.

I’ll give you even money that Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin can still patch things up, if not for their sake then for the kids, Apple and Moses who, now that I think of it, might deserve new parents with better judgment.

And so I am happy to inform you that Leaf fans can now decide what’s worse, a sudden heartwrenching loss in Boston or the ...

Throwback Thursday: Brothers

Toronto Maple Leafs v Boston Bruins

While there has been family ties in all areas of the National Hockey League for years the most significant has been the presence of sibling players. With 47 pairs lacing them up for the same team and many others bearing rival sweaters the brotherly connections go back to the days of Henri and Maurice Richard, Frank and Peter Mahovlich, and all the way up to the current siblings like the Staal, Schenn, and Sedin brothers.

As we look forward to tonight’s matchup with the Boston Bruins we also take a look back ...

Bruins can again define Leafs’ progress

jvr600apr2

Say what you want about the schedulemaker: he certainly has a flair for the dramatic.

The Leafs host the Bruins, Thursday night in the most meaningful game Toronto has played since May 14.

Yes, that May 14, the three goals in 10-minutes May 14 Game 7 loss in Boston.

Here is the recipe for the season, Leaf fans. You need both the Leafs and the Bruins to be the teams they seemed destined to be when Nazem Kadri popped home a two-on-one goal to put the Leafs up 4-1 early in the third ...

Montreal Canadiens v Toronto Maple Leafs

What does Mats Sundin have in common with Black Sabbath?

Think really hard….

13. The number Mats Sundin wore for the blue and white, and also the name of Black Sabbath’s latest album released in June of 2013. The story behind the album’s name is an entertaining one and while it has nothing to do with the legendary Leaf it is true to rockstar status stemming from rebelling against record execs. Learn more about that HERE.

Black Sabbath is currently touring North America making stops in London, Hamilton, and Ottawa among other cities ...

Throwback Thursday: Fighting with Philly

Tucker in the Middle

As the Leafs are set to face-off with the Flyers tomorrow night in Philly for the final time this season, today’s throwback photo brings us back to a match-up between the clubs just over 10 years ago. With a few meetings in the post-season in the early 2000′s this rivalry was an interesting one to watch. This photo from 2003 is just a snapshot of some of the excitement the tough guys provided for the fans in that era.

This photo makes me wonder who is on the receiving end of Darcy ...

Wondering if the Leafs will make playoffs? Look no further.

bozak600mar26

Let’s look at the bright side here.

The Maple Leafs are 26th in goals against, 28th on the penalty kill and minus 15 for the year.

They have played more games than any of the three teams contesting the remaining two Eastern Conference Wild Card spots.

They have – you may not have noticed this – lost six games in a row.

And this, friends, is why you win games in October.

Because after a devastating stretch in which their weaknesses have been laid bare, the Leafs remain tied with Columbus, Detroit and Washington with ...

#MusicMonday: Down With Webster

dww500mar24

While there are many musicians that call themselves fans of the Blue and White only a few could be considered diehard. One of those musicians is Tyler Armes, bassist and keyboardist for the Toronto band Down With Webster. While Tyler is in Los Angeles he took some time to talk Leafs, the team he grew up cheering for.

BP: You’re a diehard Leafs fan…so tell us the story behind your love for the Blue and White?

TA: I grew up in Toronto playing hockey my whole life, and as you know we take ...

Throwback Thursday: At the Gardens

Kennedy Richard Damphousse and Sundin

The Leafs will face off against long-time rivals the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday for the last time this regular season. Today’s throwback features the last time the Habs and Leafs played at Maple Leaf Gardens fifteen seasons ago.

Posing for the face-off are former Leafs first round pick Vincent Damphousse and Mats Sundin. And dropping the puck, considered by many to be the greatest Montreal Canadien, Maurice “The Rocket” Richard and the greatest Leaf Ted “Teeder” Kennedy.

Take a look….
