Colts defeat Delta Force, make Leafs watch.

Mike Cornelissen and Edgar Grisnic.

Graham MacDonald lugged his hockey bag into Dressing Room 2 of the Canlan Ice Sports rink at York University.

Before him sat a training table with tape, water, spots drinks and coolers. Hanging in a stall was a white Maple Leafs jersey bearing his name and number.

“Finally made it,” he grinned.

True enough. For one night MacDonald, a Scarborough sales rep whose company makes air filters and his hockey buddies on the Colts, Adrian ‘Rat’ Ruegsesser and Harry Ojanen – who bears some a passing resemblance to ...

Why more than ever the Leafs need to listen to my Uncle Leonard

My Uncle Leonard would be very, very unhappy.

My Uncle Leonard was a tough guy. So was his son, Randy.

Randy got in a bar fight over money. He had the guy pinned against the wall. When the guy said he would pay, Randy let him down. The guy took a swing at Randy and while he did not connect, Randy found himsel on the floor looking up.

Standing over him was my Uncle Leonard. “Get in the truck,” he said.

Randy immediately forgot about the guy he was fighting. The two drove ...

Wrapping Up All-Star Saturday

The first big event of All-Star weekend took place on Saturday the Skills Competition.

Prior to the competition starting, I was able to walk around and catch some cool photos including this one of two Leafs fans posing with Dion Phaneuf and Phil Kessel masks that were handed out to fans.

Look at the neat ice sculpture of the 2012 NHL All-Star logo that is outside the Scotiabank Place.

Media Day Madness

The final All-Star event on Friday was the media day which had the players and coaches on podiums fielding questions from all the reporters. It was fascinating to see the players in that environment being asked about concussions, the future of the game and more.

I took a video which you could see below of what the media day set up looked like.

It was pretty hard to get near many of the players when the interviews first started but I snapped a nice shot of Phil Kessel here.

After Dion Phaneuf, Kessel and Joffrey ...

Busy Day At All-Star Fan Fair

Friday morning was a day for me to check out the NHL All-Star Fan Fair that was taking place at the Ottawa Convention Centre.

There was tons for fans to do including having your picture taken for a hockey card, interactive games to test your hardest shot, accuracy shooting, deflection ability and much more. Check out the video below of the Upper Deck hockey card exhibit  followed by a young fan trying the Sniper’s Fires game.

Our First Afternoon In Ottawa

It has only been a couple of hours in Ottawa but the All-Star weekend got off to a great start with a trophy presentation on Rideau Canal. All the NHL trophies including the Stanley Cup made the voyage on the canal with fans taking plenty of pictures. Here is a photo of the Conn Smythe Trophy.

It was a pretty cool moment to skate on the canal and see the trophies up close. Check out the video below of me taking a whirl.
