Leafs Recall Three, Look Ahead To Predators

The Maple Leafs announced on Wednesday that the team has recalled forwards Josh Leivo and David Broll and defenceman T.J. Brennan. With the three call ups, the team has assigned Trevor Smith and Jamie Devane to the Toronto Marlies.

Leivo, Broll and Brennan are all expected to take part in Wednesday’s practice at MasterCard Centre. Both Leivo and Broll have yet to play an NHL game while Brennan saw action in 29 games last season between Buffalo and Florida with 10 points (three goals, seven assists).

Smith, Devane Recalled From Marlies

The Maple Leafs announced on Monday that the team has recalled forwards Jamie Devane and Trevor Smith from the Toronto Marlies.

Devane played in his first NHL game on Saturday and saw 6:52 of ice-time. He was assinged to the Marlies Sunday and recorded an assist in the win over Lake Erie.

Smith was recently named the captain of the Marlies following his first training camp with the Leafs. The Ottawa, Ontario native recorded five points in two games over the weekend as the Marlies began their season with two straight wins.

One in 10,000 chance lands fan chance to drop puck

It has been 20 years since Brian Brett dropped a puck and barring a recall on gravity he will do it again.

This time, though, there will be 20,000 spectators.

Brian Brett is the winner of the Leafs Drop The Puck contest.

Brian is a 32-year-old Brampton resident who works in marketing. He is also the winner of the Leafs Drop the Puck contest and as such will handle the ceremonial puck drop between Ottawa captain Jason Spezza and Dion Phaneuf when the Leafs open against the Senators.

Rielly Could Make NHL Debut Saturday

The Maple Leafs returned to practice Friday morning as they get set for their home opener Saturday against the Ottawa Senators.

There was a new face at practice as Jamie Devane was recalled from the Toronto Marlies as defenceman Mark Fraser was placed on long term injury list.

With Fraser being sidelined, look for Morgan Rielly to play his first regular season game tomorrow night against Ottawa.

Head coach Randy Carlyle said that Fraser could be out of the lineup for three to four weeks with a lower body injury.

Tailgate Party At Maple Leaf Square For Home Opener

When the Maple Leafs host the Ottawa Senators at the ACC on Saturday, we will be having a Molson Canadian Tailgate Party in Maple Leaf Square starting at 3pm. At 7pm the game will be shown on the big board.

Just like during the playoffs, there will be several Leafs Alumni on hand including Wendel Clark. Darcy Tucker. Brad May. Darryl Sittler. Mark Osborne and more.

There will also be tons of giveaways, including a t-shirt toss and tickets plus a DJ spinning some tunes and a Molson Canadian Hockey House.

The Maple Leafs held their final practice in Toronto on Monday before Tuesday’s season opener against the Canadiens in Montreal.

After making several roster moves on Sunday, the Leafs were on the ice at the ACC today and here is how the forward lines and defence pairings looked.
