While the notion of standing in front of a net as a shot comes flying from Zdeno Chara seems insane to me, it also garners my utmost respect. One because I’d never do it and two because of the sheer fact that the game is literally in (or out) of their hands and that’s a big responsibility. Soft goals, good goals, ‘shouldn’t have been’ goals, ‘he never would have stopped that’ goals….it all comes down to the goaltending. As Jacques Plante put it….“Goaltender is a normal job. Sure! How would you like […]
The Leafs were on the ice at MasterCard Centre as they prepared for Thursday’s game against the Nashville Predators. Nazem Kadri will be back in the lineup following his three-game suspension for his hit on Minnesota Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom.
Tyler Bozak and Mark Fraser both practiced but they remain doubtful to return to the lineup against the Predators.
Here is how the Leafs lines and defence pairings looked on Wednesday.
All of the practice video with Randy Carlyle, Kadri, Bozak, Kulemin and Trevor Smith is below.
Over the last century, the sweater of the Toronto Maple Leafs has had – at different times – different stripes, different points and different fonts.
One thing has remained.

Aidan is the seven-year-old Toronto boy whose spontaneous enthusiasm landed him on national television during the Toronto Maple Leafs annual visit to SickKids Hospital.

“I’m telling you, the kid had charisma,” said forward Nazem Kadri. “He came right up to me and asked me to play air hockey with him. Wasn’t shy at all.”
Shy is not Aidan’s style.
“I’d like to say he gets his personality from his parents but Aidan is just such a special person,” said his mother Louise Donnelly. “That excitement and […]
As the Leafs headed to Minnesota on Wednesday night to face the Wild we look back to this photo of Leaf Ian Turnbull surrounded by Minnesota North Stars at Maple Leaf Gardens. While the Wild have had a home in Minnesota since 1997 the original North Stars franchise actually became the Dallas Stars in 1993 after 26 seasons in Minnesota.
From the 1978/79 season to 1980/81 the Leafs and North Stars were Adams Division rivals and would later become Norris Division rivals until 1992-93. And you can tell by Turnbull’s intense glare […]

Fifteen months after that journey, Henderson has regained nearly all the lost weight. He has […]

Two of the most recognizable and storied Leafs of recent generations. Former captains of the Blue and White, Darryl Sittler and Doug Gilmour. Both have their numbers hanging in the rafters at Air Canada Centre, were inducted in to the Hockey Hall of Fame, and hold franchise records. And just over 20 years ago one of Darryl Sittler’s franchise records was broken by none other than Doug Gilmour.
With an assist against the Oilers on March 27, 1993, Doug Gilmour broke Darryl Sittler’s record for points in a Leafs single season. […]
