The final All-Star event on Friday was the media day which had the players and coaches on podiums fielding questions from all the reporters. It was fascinating to see the players in that environment being asked about concussions, the future of the game and more.
I took a video which you could see below of what the media day set up looked like.
It was pretty hard to get near many of the players when the interviews first started but I snapped a nice shot of Phil Kessel here.
After Dion Phaneuf, Kessel and Joffrey Lupul met the media, they did separate one-on-one interviews with Leafs TV. The video below is of Phaneuf as he is just about to start the interview with Tessa Bonhomme.
Something that stood out to me as Phaneuf was doing the interview was the interesting socks he was wearing. Check out the video below (look at the right foot).
To wrap up today, here is a behind the scenes video with Lupul.
Earlier in the day, Lupul and Zdeno Chara selected the players who would compete in what events at the Skills Competition on Saturday. Kessel will be in the fastest skater and the accuracy shooting. Phaneuf in the hardest shot and the one-timer left handed in the skills challenge. Lupul will be in the elimination shootout and the one-timer right handed in the skills challenge.
That is it from me for tonight but we will be back in the morning bringing you the latest from All-Star weekend in Ottawa.
