There will be one Leafs prospect taking part in the 2012 Memorial Cup as Greg McKegg and the London Knights are OHL Champions. The Knights defeated the Niagara Ice Dogs in five games including winning the final four games of the series. Check out the highlights of the clinching win.
London will now join the Saint John Sea Dogs, Edmonton Oil Kings and the host Shawinigan Cataractes in the tournament which begins May 18. You can watch the entire tournament on Sportsnet. London plays their two round robin games on May 19th and 20th.
McKegg had a quiet series as he recorded just two points in the five games with a +3 rating. He finished the OHL postseason with 11 points in 15 games as he missed the entire third round with an upper body injruy.
In the WHL, Brad Ross and the Portland Winterhawks fell in Game 7 to Edmonton. It was the second straight year that Portland has lost in Game 7 of the WHL finals. Ross will be an overager next season so this could’ve been his final game in junior hockey. He finished the postseason with 22 points, +8 and 57 penalty minutes in 22 games.
