The Maple Leafs were back on the ice Friday following the 7-4 defeat to the New York Islanders Thursday.
Following the hour-long practice, the Leafs announced that Jake Gardiner has been assigned to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.
Gardiner appeared in two games for the Maple Leafs this season, registering four shots on goal. The 6-2, 184-pound defenceman missed the Leafs first-two games of the season due to injury.
While some expected drastic line changes, head coach Randy Carlyle kept all the lines and pairings intact except one.
Forward Leo Komarov wasn’t on the ice as he had a maintenance day according to Carlyle. In his absence, David Steckel practiced with Nazem Kadri and Matt Frattin.
