We are back with our weekly look at how Maple Leafs prospects performed in the OHL and WHL.
Morgan Rielly’s production has slowed down this month as he has just three assists in 10 games. He recorded one helper in Moose Jaw’s 5-1 loss to Edmonton last Friday. Ther Warriors have lost four straight games and sit tied for third in the Eastern Conference’s East Division. They have played two games on their seven game road trip as they begin the B.C. portion of the road trip Tuesday in Victoria. Despite his slow month, Rielly is fourth in defencemen scoring in the WHL.
Connor Brown had two assists in three games last week as the Erie Otters lost all three games. Brown has now gone seven games without a goal. For the season he has 16 goals, 17 assists for 33 points in 31 games to lead the young Otters squad. He also sits 16th in goals in the OHL.
Guelph Storm defenceman Matt Finn continues to be sidelined with mono but he hopes to return to action this week. Fellow Storm prospect Garret Sparks had an excellent week picking up two wins with one shutout. After a so-so start to the season, Sparks has been fantastic this month with a 5-3-2 record with two shutouts, 1.93 GAA and a .943SV%. The Storm currently sit in third in the Western Conference’s Midwest Division.
Leafs 2011 first round pick Stuart Percy has continued his steady play with the Mississauga Steelheads as he had one goal last week with an even rating. For the month of November he has two goals, six assists and a +7 rating. He currently sits fourth in team scoring.
Fellow 2011 first rounder, Tyler Biggs had the best week amongst Leafs prospects. He had back-to-back two point games along with a +3 mark. He has had a huge month with 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 11 games. Biggs sits second on the Oshawa Generals in scoring with 27 points in 22 games. The Generals are tied for first with the Belleville Bulls in the Eastern Conference’s East Division.
Rugged forward David Broll had one assist in three games for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Broll has eight points this month and 18 on the season in 26 games. Broll is fourth in team scoring and second on the team in penalty minutes. The Greyhounds are last in the Western Conference’s West Division just four points behind Plymouth for first place.
After an excellent October, Josh Leivo has just three goals in 10 games for Sudbury this month. He had two points last week for the Wolves who are fifth in the Eastern Conference Central Division. Leivo currently leads the Wolves in scoring with 27 points (13 goals, 14 assists).
