Gauthier Scores For Canada

Three Maple Leafs prospects were in the lineup as Canada defeated Finland 5-3 in the first game of a World Junior exhibition series that is taking place in Lake Placid, NY over the next four days.

2013 first round draft pick Frederik Gauthier scored in the first period to give Canada a 2-1 lead after they fell behind just 51 seconds into the game.

London Knights forward Ryan Rupert recorded an assist on Canada’s fourth goal of the game in the third period while fellow 2012 draft pick Matt Finn was held scoreless.

Canada’s next game is Thursday at 4:15pm against Sweden.

Prospect Dominic Toninato was not in the lineup for the USA as they faced Sweden in the late game Wednesday.
