#MusicMonday: Rod Stewart

In this #MusicMonday I caught up with David Clarkson to chat about music and why he’s such a big Rod Stewart fan.

Did you know that Rod Stewart has a son that plays in the Western Hockey League? Liam Stewart, Rod’s son with ex-wife and supermodel Rachel Hunter, plays centre for the Spokane Chiefs.

**Stay tuned for an opportunity to win an experience of a lifetime with Black Sabbath and the Toronto Maple Leafs courtesy of Universal Music Canada.

Throwback Thursday: Together for a cause

Phil Kessel mixing drinks. Joffrey Lupul serving sliders. Tyler Bozak sitting at your table. This only happens at one event. The Players’ Gala presented by BlackBerry.

Tonight the entire Toronto Maple Leafs team, Toronto Raptors, and Toronto FC will stroll down the Black carpet with supporters of the MLSE Foundation to raise money for the Regent Park revitalization project.  A very cool event that brings MLSE teams together once a year.

While there is a lot going on tonight make sure you’re following along on twitter: @MapleLeafs, @BrookePashley, @MLSEFoundation and of course […]

#MusicMonday: Pre-game Playlists

Whether in the dressing room or during warm-ups it’s music that plays a big role in getting in to game mode. For the Leafs, the pre-game playlist is very important. In fact, the team handpicks the songs that will flow through the sound system at Air Canada Centre as they take to the ice prior to the game.

The 15 minute warm-up features a mashup of upbeat songs and while I’m not sure who has the ultimate stamp of approval in the dressing room, their selections get two thumbs up from […]

Throwback Thursday: All-Star Game

Ace Bailey All Stars 5

What we’ve seen over the past few weeks is the very best of the worlds hockey players representing their countries and competing against each other in the Olympics. Now that opportunity only comes once every four years but on a yearly basis since 1947 we’ve seen the best of the National Hockey League showcased in an All-Star Game.

In the early years of the All-Star Game the defending Stanley Cup champions would play a selection of players from around the league. That format has changed over the years, to East vs. […]

Throwback Thursday: 15 years at Air Canada Centre

Fifteen years ago today and after a long tenure filled with many memories at Maple Leaf Gardens the Leafs would move further south to a new arena constructed at Bay St. and Lakeshore Blvd. called Air Canada Centre. Occupying a site that previously housed Canada Post’s Toronto Postal Delivery Building, the new arena would retain some of the original building’s facade while the inside featured all the new bells and whistles.

In it’s first week, the building would host a Leafs game, a Toronto Raptors game, and soldout concerts of the […]

Throwback Thursday: 1985

1985. Mullets, acid wash jeans, Wham, Madonna, and Foreigner topping the charts, Back to the Future and The Goonies at the movies, and The Cosby Show, Family Ties, and The Golden Girls on TV but more importantly Wendel Clark is chosen first overall in the NHL Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The defenceman from the Saskatoon Blades transitioned to left-wing in the NHL and quickly stole the hearts of Leafs fans with his passion, fist, and bodycheck.

Here’s a look back to the day he was drafted….

But what I really […]
