The legendary Canadian coffee chain started by Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Tim Horton, celebrated its 50th anniversary back on May 17th but before the coffee and donuts there were burgers.
Fitting that it is also Burger Week here in Toronto, today’s throwback photo is one of Tim Horton Charcoal Broiled Hamburgers located in Scarborough. The burger shop was one of Tim’s many business ventures that eventually led to the extremely successful chain that still bears his name.

Although the final result wasn’t what the players wanted, Matt Finn and Antoine Bibeau’s solid play at the 2014 Memorial Cup was recognized by the NHL’s Central Scouting.
Bibeau was named the Outstanding Goalie of the 2014 Memorial Cup. The 20-year-old made 178 saves in four games and finished the tournament with a 2.76 GAA and .932 save percentage. He was also named to the tournament All-Star team.

It was a tough day at the World Hockey Championship for four Leafs players as they suffered tough defeats and will not medal at the tournament this year.
Morgan Rielly, Nazem Kadri, James Reimer and Canada fell 3-2 to Finland. It was the fifth straight year that Canada has been eliminated at the quarter-final stage of the World Championship.
Canada entered the third period with a 2-1 lead but Finland scored twice in the period including a late goal to upset Canada.

After sweeping both the Milwuakee Admirals and Chicago Wolves the Toronto Marlies are headed to the third round of the Calder Cup Playoffs to face the Texas Stars, kicking off tomorrow night in the Lone Star State. Leading the team in playoff scoring is none other than fan-favourite “Fear-Da-Beard” Jerry D’Amigo.
With 12 points in 7 games made up of 4 goals including an OT winner and 8 assists Jerry was a beardless, fresh-faced NHL prospect back in 2009 when he was selected 158th overall by the Leafs in the draft.
The playoff round for the 2014 World Hockey Championship in Belarus has been set with all four games taking place on Thursday.
Canada will face Finland (1pm TSN) and the USA vs Czech Republic (9am TSN) in one half of the bracket. A potential Canada vs. USA semi-final is on the line which would see four Leafs doing battle for a spot in the Gold medal game.
Canada’s head coach Dave Tippett has not said who would start in net with both James Reimer and Ben Scrivens having strong tournaments.

Canada concluded the preliminary round of the 2014 World Hockey Championship with a 3-2 win over Norway on Tuesday. The win secured first place in Group A and Canada’s quarter-final opponent will be known later today. All quarter-final games will be on Thursday with Canada’s game on TSN.
James Reimer started in net for Canada and wasn’t tested often as he faced just 16 shots. Reimer has a 3-0-1 record and a 2.20 GAA. It is not known who will start in net for Thursday’s quarter-final.
