Throwback Thursday: Opening Night 1931

mlgopeningoct3

PHOTO COURTESY OF @Brian_game on Twitter.

We’ve waited all summer. Counted the days. Speculated about new additions. Discussed what’s to come. Anticipated seeing our favourite players don that Maple Leaf and hit the ice. Well, it’s here. Two games under the belt it’s time to head home and really open the season.

The combination of a Saturday night in Toronto, Battle of Ontario, and Hockey Night in Canada is enough to get any Leaf fan excited but add home-opener to that list and it has the possibility to bring you chills.

For me, ...

Bolland retraces footsteps back to St. Leo’s.

bolland500ulmersept26

To Dave Bolland, it was a trip to tiny town.

Thursday, Bolland was back at his old elementary school, St. Leo’s in Etobicoke, to kick off the season’s first Shape Up assembly.

Maple Leaf Dave Bolland and Raptor alumni Jamaal Magloire were among the athletes and trainers on hand at Bolland’s alma mater, St. Leo’s in Etobicoke.

Throwback Thursday – Leafs Wings Rivalry

Storey Breaks Up Howe & Kennedy

Good ol’ hockey rivalries. There’s the one with the Habs, the Battle of Ontario with the Senators, and this past weekend we saw a back-to-back Battle of the QEW. These rivalry games are never short of excitement as last weekend proved and are historically some of the best games of the season.

One of my personal favourites though has to be between the Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings. Growing up in Windsor this rivalry was discussed and argued about the most amongst my friends. While I’ve still never seen a ...
