Leafs Host Red Wings

The Maple Leafs play their preseason game tonight against Detroit (7:30pm Sportsnet, Sportsnet FAN590).

Phil Kessel, Tyler Bozak and David Clarkson will not be playing tonight. Kessel and Bozak are dealing with lower body injuries.

Split-Squad Game Tonight For Leafs

The Maple Leafs 2014-15 preseason action continues with a split-squad game against the Ottawa Senators.

The two teams meet in Toronto at 7:30pm (TSN4, TSN1050 Radio) and in Ottawa (7:30pm TSN5 Ottawa Region only).

According to several reports, James Reimer will see his first action of the preseason tonight. Christopher Gibson will back up Reimer in the game at Air Canada Centre.

The Maple Leafs continue preseason action tonight as they host the Philadelphia Flyers (7:30pm TSN4, TSN1050 Radio).

Phil Kessel, Joffrey Lupul, James van Riemsdyk and William Nylander are all expected to play tonight.

Jonathan Bernier and Antoine Bibeau will split the duties in net.

Preseason Action Begins Tonight

The Maple Leafs begin the 2014-15 preseason tonight as they take on the Philadelphia Flyers in London, Ontario (7pm Leafs TV, TSN1050 Radio).

The Leafs announced that 10 players were reassigned on Monday. Some were sent to the Toronto Marlies and others back to their respective junior clubs. Check out the full list at this link.

The Prodigal Frattin

It’s not often that players get a second opportunity with the same club. In Toronto, Wendel Clark and Yannick Perrault were exceptions playing for the Leafs not only twice but on three separate occasions!!

Leafs End Tourney With Win

The Maple Leafs 2014 rookie tournament came to a close with a 2-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday afternoon.

Brett Findlay and Parker Bowles scored for Toronto while Antoine Bibeau made 25 saves for the shutout. With the victory, the Leafs ended the tournament with a 2-1 record.

Bibeau made an unreal save early in the first period. You will be seeing it for a while.

A Not So Manic Monday

The annual rookie tournament in London will conclude for the Maple Leafs Tuesday with a game against Pittsburgh’s prospects.

The Leafs intend on bouncing back following a 6-2 loss to Ottawa Sunday night.

Toronto will play without centre Frederik Gauthier who tweaked his back in the loss to Ottawa.

Gauthier considers the injury a minor setback and hopes to be ready for the big league camp which opens Thursday at Mastercard Centre.

Assistant GM Kyle Dubas also confirmed that William Nylander will be a healthy scratch for Tuesday’s tilt.

Rookies Drop Game Two

The Toronto Maple Leafs rookies lost 6-2 to the Ottawa Senators rookies on Sunday. The Leafs are now 1-1 in the first two games. The three-game tournament ends for the Leafs on Tuesday against Pittsburgh (2pm Rogers TV).

Connor Brown and Brett Findlay scored the goals for the Leafs and Christopher Gibson was solid despite allowing six goals. Frederik Gauthier left the game after the first with an injury and did not return.
