When the Maple Leafs host the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, it will be the 8th annual Canadian Forces Appreciation Night. This years theme is Humanitarian Missions. All of the individuals involved in the pre-game ceremonies and various others in attendance assisted with the efforts recently in the Philippines.
The Leafs have had a long history with the Canadian Forces. Former owner Conn Smythe served in both World Wars ans the team logo, selected by Smythe, is rooted to the leaf emblem Canadian soldiers bore on their helmets and uniforms.
Dozens of Leafs Alumni enlisted for Canada in the two world wars including Punch Imlach, Johnny Bower, Syl Apps & Turk Broda.
Close to 400 tickets have been donated by MLSE, generous Leafs Season Seat Holders & our Global Partners for Canadian Forces members to attend the game. David Clarkson has donated a suite for 24 members of the Canadian Forces and their families .
The 2014 Leafs Camo collection is available exclusively at Real Sports Apparel. Forty percent of all gross sales on February 1st go to support the Military Families Fund.
