Bozak Skates Ahead Of Practice

The Maple Leafs practiced Tuesday at MasterCard Centre prior to departing for a two-game road trip to Minnesota and Buffalo.

Tyler Bozak skated prior to the main group as he works his way back from a hamstring injury. He is not eligible to come off IR until November 21st.

According to head coach Randy Carlyle, Bozak could skate with the main group as early as this Saturday.

Fraser Ready For Action

Maple Leafs defenceman Mark Fraser deemed himself ready to go following Wednesday’s practice at MasetCard Centre.

Fraser is hopeful to play against his former team, the New Jersey Devils Friday at the ACC. He has been out of the lineup since October 2nd against Philadelphia with a knee injury.

The Ottawa native has been skating and practicing with the team but wasn’t quite ready for action during the recent three-game Western Canada road trip.

Leafs Back To Work Friday

After a day off in Vancouver on Thursday, the Leafs took to the ice for a spirited hour long practice at Rogers Arena a day before their three-game Western Canada road trip comes to a close.

The Leafs lines saw a slight change as Nikolai Kulemin practiced on a line with Jay McClement and Joffrey Lupul with Carter Ashton skating as an extra. Ashton was supended two games by the NHL and will miss Saturday and next Friday’s game at home against New Jersey.

Leafs Begin Road Trip

The Leafs’ three-game road trip kicks off tonight in Edmonton with plenty of members of Leafs Nation expected in the house.

It appears that James Reimer will get the start between the pipes for the Leafs and Richard Bachman will get the call for the Oilers.

Joffrey Lupul will take part in the pre-game skate and is a game-time decision. Lupul told the media that his grandmother put off a trip to Mexico to see him play.

Rielly Makes The Team, Lupul Day-To-Day With Bruised Foot

There was lots of news at Leafs practice Thursday morning. Rookie defenceman Morgan Rielly was told prior to practice that he had made the team and will be sticking around following his ninth game tomorrow night in Columbus. Rielly has played well in eight games recording four assists.

Bowen Honoured By Sports Media Canada

Congrats to Maple Leafs play-by-play man Joe Bowen.

He was among the honourees at the 18th Annual Sports Media Canada Achievement Awards luncheon at the Royal York Hotel’s Canadian Room.

Bowen was recipient of the Sports Media Canada George Gross Award for Outstanding Broadcasting. His longtime sidekick Jim Ralph introduced Joe – Joe’s boyhood idol – the legendary Johnny Bower – handed the award to him.

Leafs Look To Rebound Against Ducks

The Maple Leafs were put through their paces at MasterCard Centre Monday as they look to end the two-game winless streak when they host Anaheim Tuesday (7pm Sportsnet, TSN1050Radio).

The team recalled forward Trevor Smith from the Toronto Marlies Monday morning and he practiced on the fourth line.

Good Chance Reimer & JVR Will Be Available Saturday

The Leafs had both James Reimer and James van Riemsdyk at practice Friday as they prepared for Saturday’s game in Chicago.

Head coach Randy Carlyle said that it is a good chance both will be able to play in Chicago.

After leaving Thursday’s game, Reimer admitted that the team doctors played it safe and kept him out the game.

JVR Takes Part In Portion Of Practice

The Leafs hit the ice at MasterCard Centre on Wednesday as they get set to host the Carolina Hurricanes Thursday. James van Riemsdyk skated for 40 minutes before leaving practice as he continues to deal with an upper body injury.

Head coach Randy Carlyle said that there has been progress with van Riemsdyk and hopefully with more treatment over the next 24 hours that he could be in action against the Hurricanes but that won’t be known until after the game day skate.

Bolland Misses Practice With Maintenance Day

The Maple Leafs hit the ice Friday in preparation for Saturday’s home game against the Edmonton Oilers but they were without forward Dave Bolland who had a maintenance day.

There was some good news as Cody Franson took part in practice after being cut on the nose when he as hit from behind during Thursday’s game. He practiced with a full cage and is expected to play Saturday night.

Prior to practice, the team announced that defenceman T.J. Brennan was assigned to the Toronto Marlies after being recalled Wednesday.

Leafs Recall Three, Look Ahead To Predators

The Maple Leafs announced on Wednesday that the team has recalled forwards Josh Leivo and David Broll and defenceman T.J. Brennan. With the three call ups, the team has assigned Trevor Smith and Jamie Devane to the Toronto Marlies.

Leivo, Broll and Brennan are all expected to take part in Wednesday’s practice at MasterCard Centre. Both Leivo and Broll have yet to play an NHL game while Brennan saw action in 29 games last season between Buffalo and Florida with 10 points (three goals, seven assists).

Smith, Devane Recalled From Marlies

The Maple Leafs announced on Monday that the team has recalled forwards Jamie Devane and Trevor Smith from the Toronto Marlies.

Devane played in his first NHL game on Saturday and saw 6:52 of ice-time. He was assinged to the Marlies Sunday and recorded an assist in the win over Lake Erie.

Smith was recently named the captain of the Marlies following his first training camp with the Leafs. The Ottawa, Ontario native recorded five points in two games over the weekend as the Marlies began their season with two straight wins.

Rielly Could Make NHL Debut Saturday

The Maple Leafs returned to practice Friday morning as they get set for their home opener Saturday against the Ottawa Senators.

There was a new face at practice as Jamie Devane was recalled from the Toronto Marlies as defenceman Mark Fraser was placed on long term injury list.

With Fraser being sidelined, look for Morgan Rielly to play his first regular season game tomorrow night against Ottawa.

Head coach Randy Carlyle said that Fraser could be out of the lineup for three to four weeks with a lower body injury.

Tailgate Party At Maple Leaf Square For Home Opener

When the Maple Leafs host the Ottawa Senators at the ACC on Saturday, we will be having a Molson Canadian Tailgate Party in Maple Leaf Square starting at 3pm. At 7pm the game will be shown on the big board.

Just like during the playoffs, there will be several Leafs Alumni on hand including Wendel Clark. Darcy Tucker. Brad May. Darryl Sittler. Mark Osborne and more.

There will also be tons of giveaways, including a t-shirt toss and tickets plus a DJ spinning some tunes and a Molson Canadian Hockey House.
