Bolland Misses Practice With Maintenance Day

The Maple Leafs hit the ice Friday in preparation for Saturday’s home game against the Edmonton Oilers but they were without forward Dave Bolland who had a maintenance day.

There was some good news as Cody Franson took part in practice after being cut on the nose when he as hit from behind during Thursday’s game. He practiced with a full cage and is expected to play Saturday night.

Prior to practice, the team announced that defenceman T.J. Brennan was assigned to the Toronto Marlies after being recalled Wednesday.

Leafs Recall Three, Look Ahead To Predators

The Maple Leafs announced on Wednesday that the team has recalled forwards Josh Leivo and David Broll and defenceman T.J. Brennan. With the three call ups, the team has assigned Trevor Smith and Jamie Devane to the Toronto Marlies.

Leivo, Broll and Brennan are all expected to take part in Wednesday’s practice at MasterCard Centre. Both Leivo and Broll have yet to play an NHL game while Brennan saw action in 29 games last season between Buffalo and Florida with 10 points (three goals, seven assists).

Smith, Devane Recalled From Marlies

The Maple Leafs announced on Monday that the team has recalled forwards Jamie Devane and Trevor Smith from the Toronto Marlies.

Devane played in his first NHL game on Saturday and saw 6:52 of ice-time. He was assinged to the Marlies Sunday and recorded an assist in the win over Lake Erie.

Smith was recently named the captain of the Marlies following his first training camp with the Leafs. The Ottawa, Ontario native recorded five points in two games over the weekend as the Marlies began their season with two straight wins.

Rielly Could Make NHL Debut Saturday

The Maple Leafs returned to practice Friday morning as they get set for their home opener Saturday against the Ottawa Senators.

There was a new face at practice as Jamie Devane was recalled from the Toronto Marlies as defenceman Mark Fraser was placed on long term injury list.

With Fraser being sidelined, look for Morgan Rielly to play his first regular season game tomorrow night against Ottawa.

Head coach Randy Carlyle said that Fraser could be out of the lineup for three to four weeks with a lower body injury.

Tailgate Party At Maple Leaf Square For Home Opener

When the Maple Leafs host the Ottawa Senators at the ACC on Saturday, we will be having a Molson Canadian Tailgate Party in Maple Leaf Square starting at 3pm. At 7pm the game will be shown on the big board.

Just like during the playoffs, there will be several Leafs Alumni on hand including Wendel Clark. Darcy Tucker. Brad May. Darryl Sittler. Mark Osborne and more.

There will also be tons of giveaways, including a t-shirt toss and tickets plus a DJ spinning some tunes and a Molson Canadian Hockey House.

Leafs Ready To Get Season Rolling

The Maple Leafs held their final practice in Toronto on Monday before Tuesday’s season opener against the Canadiens in Montreal.

After making several roster moves on Sunday, the Leafs were on the ice at the ACC today and here is how the forward lines and defence pairings looked. The Maple Leafs and Red Wings close out the home-and-home tonight (7pm CBC, TSN1050 Radio) in the final preseason game for both teams. Detroit defeated Toronto 5-2 Friday night in Detroit. The Red Wings scored three power-play goals in the win.

Leafs Begin Home-And-Home With Wings

The Maple Leafs preseason action continues in the Motor City tonight (7:30pm Leafs TV, TSN1050 Radio) in the first of a back-to-back against the Wings.

Toronto is coming off a 3-2 loss to the Senators on Tuesday which was the Leafs first in regulation during the preseason. Leafs Take On Senators

The Maple Leafs begin the final week of preseason action against the Ottawa Senators  tonight at Air Canada Centre (7pm Leafs TV, TSN1050 Radio). This will be the second meeting between the two teams in six days. The Leafs beat the Senators 3-2 last week in Ottawa.

Following tonight’s game, the Leafs will play a home-and-home with the Detroit Red Wings on Friday and Saturday to close out the preseason.

Closing Out The Home-And-Home

The Maple Leafs and Sabres are back in action tonight at the ACC (7pm Leafs TV, TSN1050 Radio) as they play the second game in as many nights.

It was an epic shootout win for the Leafs Saturday as the 30th shooter on the night, Jay McClement scored the only goal in the 15th round of the shootout. Watch all the highlights with the Game In Six Minutes.

Leafs On The Road Tonight

The Maple Leafs preseason continues as they travel down the QEW to play the first of a home-and-home with the Buffalo Sabres (7pm CBC, TSN1050 Radio). The two teams are back in Toronto on Sunday when the Leafs play their third game in four nights.

Leafs Set For Back-To-Back

The Maple Leafs were back on the ice Friday morning at MasterCard Centre following Thursday’s 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators.

Jonathan Bernier who left Thursday’s game after just 20 minutes, didn’t take part in practice Friday due to surface irritation the result of new pads. There isn’t any structural damage and he’s considered day-to-day.

Forward Joffrey Lupul practiced once again and according to head coach Randy Carlyle he could play in his first preseason game this weekend.

The Leafs also announced that forward Spencer Abbott was assigned to the Toronto Marlies on Friday.

Preseason Edition In The Battle Of Ontario

The Maple Leafs continue preseason action tonight when they travel to Ottawa to face the Senators (7:30pm TSN, TSN1050 Radio). The two teams will meet in Toronto next Tuesday. They will face each other in the Leafs home opener October 5th.

Lupul Takes Part In Practice

The Maple Leafs returned to the ice on Wednesday following a full off-day as they continued preparations for the season opener on October 1st against the Montreal Canadiens.

For the first time during training camp, forward Joffrey Lupul took part in practice and was on a line with Tyler Bozak and Phil Kessel. He spoke with the media following practice and said that he could play in a preseason game sometime this weekend.

The Maple Leafs play the first of eight preseason games tonight in London, Ontario against the Philadelphia Flyers (6pm, Leafs TV, TSN1050Radio).

The two teams will meet back in Toronto on Monday as the Leafs will play five games in seven days leading up to the regular season opener October 1st in Montreal. Here is the full Leafs preseason schedule
