The first big event of All-Star weekend took place on Saturday the Skills Competition.
Prior to the competition starting, I was able to walk around and catch some cool photos including this one of two Leafs fans posing with Dion Phaneuf and Phil Kessel masks that were handed out to fans.
Look at the neat ice sculpture of the 2012 NHL All-Star logo that is outside the Scotiabank Place.

The mascots from all 30 teams are at All-Star weekend and in the below video they are making their way to the ice.
Phil Kessel won his heat in the fastest skater against Keith Yandle. Check out this great photo of him celebrating with Joffrey Lupul and Dion Phaneuf (notice Carlton The Bear).
There is tons of media here for All-Star weekend and I was in the auxiliary press box. Check out my view.
Once the event finished the players met with the media and it was quite the scene.
It was a busy morning on Satuday as I took in the junior skills competition earlier in the day on the Rideau canal. It was a cool setting with Parliament Hill as the backdrop. Here is a picture with the winners after the competition and a video I shot below.
For the second straight day I went to the Fan Fair and saw two really cool framed pictures. One was of the famous Leafs Hound Line from the 1980’s the other was a 1972 Team Canada Summit Series hockey cards with all the signatures of the players.
Before I headed to the rink, two Canadian Olympic Gold medalists, Tessa Bonhomme and Corey Perry signed autographs.
That’s it for me from the Skills Competition. One more day to go on this busy but fun weekend.
