Abbott A Hobey Baker Finalist


The Leafs latest signing, Spencer Abbott is one of three finalists for the 2012 Hobey Baker Memorial Award honouring college hockey’s top player.

Abbott signed with Toronto on Wednesday after a four-year career with the Main Black Bears finishing his career with 146 points (54 goals, 92 assists) in 151 gamesĀ . He led the NCAA in scoring this past season with 62 points (21 goals, 41 assists).

The Hamilton, Ontario native was named the Hockey East player of the year and was also named a First Team All-Star. Abbott has joined the Toronto Marlies for the remainder of the season and Calder Cup Playoffs.
